Finance Assistant

You will work in our busy Finance department, as part of a team of three people, with close liaison with the Procurement and Sales team (~10 friendly people in the office). You will be required to provide accurate data entry, reconciliation, and finance problem solving. This involves having excellent attention to detail, able to recognise discrepancy.  If you are seeking an accounting career following studies or already have some experience this might be of interest to you….

The role:

In this role you will work as part of the Finance team, and you will provide support to the wider internal administration team. You will carry out a variety of book-keeping tasks, communicate with customers and suppliers and provide accounting support to various internal departments.

Responsibilities include:

  • Sales ledger: update sales invoices, create credit notes, enter receipts
  • Credit control: monitoring, statements, communication, update records
  • Purchase ledger: supplier invoices, remittances, reconciliation, enter payments
  • Journals: process, reporting
  • Banking: data entry of all bank transactions, reporting
  • Reconciliation: various bank accounts, trial balance accounts
  • Assist with month end finance processes
  • Other finance duties as required
  • Understanding of GDPR

The skills and experience required:


  • Accounts/book-keeping experience (min. 2 years)
  • Minimum GCSE level (or equivalent) in English & Maths
  • Competent Microsoft Office skills, proficient Excel user
  • Able to demonstrate concentration, accuracy, and attention to detail
  • Discreet, able to retain confidential information
  • Logical thinker, with excellent numerical skills
  • Highly organised, able to prioritise and work to a high output level
  • Positive, enthusiastic, self-motivated and can-do attitude
  • Able to use your initiative and problem-solving skill
  • Interested, adaptable and possess a willingness to learn with a strong work ethic
  • Good communicator and team player
  • Excellent verbal and written English
