Responsibilities and Duties

Due to the growth and expansion of the company, an opportunity has arisen in the Finance team.  We are looking to employ someone who has an enthusiasm for business accounting and can demonstrate a keen eye for attention to detail, concentration, and accuracy. To be successful in this role, a positive and proactive approach to new challenges and responsibilities is essential.

In this role you will work as part of the Finance team (~5 people) and from the same environment provide support to the wider internal administration team (~8 people).  You will carry out a variety of book-keeping tasks, communicate with customers and suppliers and provide accounting support to various internal departments. This role supports and reports to the Finance Manager.  If you wish to start or are already on an AAT journey, we can look to support that commencement or progress. Full in-house training will be provided.

Responsibilities include:

  • Understanding GDPR
  • Sales ledger: update sales invoices, create credit notes, enter receipts
  • Credit control: monitoring, statements, communication, update records
  • Purchase ledger: supplier invoices, remittances, reconciliation, enter payments
  • Journals: process, reporting
  • Banking: data entry of all bank transactions, reporting
  • Reconciliation: various bank accounts, trial balance accounts
  • VAT
  • Purchase order: monitor, check pricing
  • Stock: prepare reports, review activity, count where assistance required
  • Monthly payroll & pension processing
  • Reporting: KPI, monthly finance reports
  • Department equipment: maintenance, records, asset record keeping
  • E-mail, telephone, mail
  • Communication: Customers, suppliers, internal, regular meeting participation
  • Health & safety awareness: department risk assessment monitoring
  • Continuous improvement contribution
  • Assist/train others
  • Other necessary accounting duties
  • Willingness to learn and support other office administrative duties

 Essential qualifications and skills required:

  • Able to demonstrate concentration, accuracy, and attention to detail
  • Discreet, able to retain confidential information
  • Logical thinker, with excellent numerical skills
  • At least two years accounts/book-keeping experience required, or suitable qualification achieved
  • Competent Microsoft Office skills, proficient Excel user
  • Minimum GCSE level (or equivalent) in English & Maths
  • To be highly organised and work to a high output level
  • Able to prioritise and manage a busy workload
  • Good communicator
  • Excellent verbal and written English

Desirable qualifications and skills required:

  • AAT Certification
  • Sage Line 50 Accounts
  • Sage 50 Payroll
  • Knowledge of databases, preferably Microsoft Access


 This role is a part-time role that could lead to full-time role in the future, if desired.  Progression opportunities would include, team management, financial management, purchasing, sales roles.
