Level Developments are currently seeking a motivated Health & Safety Officer to join their highly successful team based in Croydon, Greater London.

Working across the whole Level Developments business located in 3 premises within a 500m radius of each other, the Health & Safety Officer will play the key role in ensuring the health, safety, and wellbeing of our staff, visitors, and customers.

The successful candidate will focus on embedding a Health & Safety culture to the wider team, and act as the lead expert on all Health & Safety matters. They will bring their professional experience (NEBOSH diploma or equivalent) and investigation skills to implement health and safety systems, oversee accident investigations and identify any training needs.

The Health & Safety Officer will seek to develop Health & Safety across all departments, developing policies and ensuring that all legislation is adhered to.

 Duties include:

  • Assist in the development, implementation and ongoing monitoring of the H&S strategy
  • Advise on matters relevant to Health and Safety & Fire safety as required by legislation, HSE guidance, and Codes of Practice
  • Investigate incidents/accidents using root cause analysis
  • Develop, write, and review H&S policies and procedures
  • Undertake audits/inspections in restricted spaces, upstairs, or at height as necessary
  • Assist with the preparation, development, maintenance, and implementation of business continuity plans
  • Oversee the electrical safety testing of portable appliances
  • Responsible for Fire Wardens and First Aiders
  • Ensure compliance with all aspects of Fire legislation and good practice
  • Review and approve and monitor departmental risk assessments
  • Facilitate and manage PPE requirements
  • Develop and implement H&S programmes, training, and action plans
  • Ensure a structured programme of H&S training is available across the organisation, assisting in developing safety-related training courses
  • Overseeing health surveillance

Essential Attributes

  • Extensive experience (at least 2 years), preferably in a manufacturing or comparable environment
  • Fully qualified with NEBOSH Certificate & NEBOSH Fire certificate
  • Member of IOSH
  • Able to demonstrate continuing professional development
  • Ability to demonstrate an elevated level of written and spoken English
  • Highly competent user of Microsoft packages including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Experience in root cause analysis
  • Accomplished H&S professional with experience in writing policies & procedures in an H&S context across a range of topics, writing risk assessments, reports and maintaining databases
  • Up-to-date knowledge of H&S, and fire safety legislation

  • Confident to deal with & advise on complex H&S/HR issues; demonstrates tact and confidentiality when dealing with highly sensitive information

 Compensation & Benefits

  • Permanent role, Monday to Friday (Part-time – 20-24 hours per week, flexibility on hours available, office hours 8am to 5pm)
