This is an opportunity for a highly driven and accomplished Operations Manager to join the senior management team of a successful engineering and manufacturing company.

About the Company

Level Developments is a world leader in the design and manufacture of mechanical and electronic angle measuring products. We sell a diverse range of high-quality products across the world. The companies continued growth and success is based on a high level of specialised knowledge and the high performing team of people who work here (~70 people).

The team includes engineers (providing product and in-house equipment development), a fully supportive office administration team, and a highly-skilled operations team. The company has a wide range of manufacturing process capabilities including CNC machining, fully automated PCBA, and glass processing.

This operations role is currently undertaken by the managing director, but continued growth has made this impractical and has created this opening in the senior management team.

Responsibilities and Duties

This senior management role is responsible for the management, steer, and development of the production, purchasing, and quality departments to ensure the operations of the business run smoothly and efficiently to deliver high-quality, on-time and profitable products.

The role has 7 direct reports and oversees the ~40 strong operations team, reporting directly to the managing director. It is a role that needs to be carried out predominantly on-site.

We are looking to appoint a high performing individual with at least 3 years of operations management experience, able to demonstrate success with manufacturing excellence and in building and leading an operations team.

Responsibilities include

  • Tactical management of the daily business operations; focussing on productivity, resource capacity and efficiency, product quality and delivery performance
  • Continuous improvement within operational departments and across the company
  • Management of the operation departments team leaders
  • Senior management involving strategic and financial planning and the execution of the company’s business plan
  • Compliance; HR & Health & Safety

Essential skills and experience required

  • Production management in an engineering/manufacturing environment
  • Commercial decision-making
  • Procurement, sourcing and supplier management
  • Project planning or project management
  • Strategic planning and execution
  • Statistical analysis and data processing
  • Budgeting, forecasting and company financials
  • Experience in an engineering/manufacturing environment
  • People management; great team working and leadership skills, HR performance management and general compliance
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Organised and methodical
  • Excellent logical reasoning, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Good numerical skill
  • Self-starting and tenacious
