The role

We are looking to employ someone with previous experience of working in a manufacturing environment or someone who has completed a practical course/education, where your practical skills can be proven and applied to this practical role.

This role is to undertake a full range of specialised manufacturing operations for the production of precision glass spirit level vials, it involves working in a team to work through production processes to create high quality and accurate products. Full training will be provided. You will need to have the ability to perform a wide range of manual and semi-automated operations including:

  • Cutting glass tubes/vials.
  • Washing glass vials.
  • Manufacture of spirit level vials.
  • Filling and sealing of vials.
  • Printing on glass tubes/vials.
  • Prepare production equipment for operation; including setup adjustments.
  • Record production information in the production database.
  • Maintain quality standards; conduct first-piece and in-process inspection.
  • Maintain department equipment as required.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy work area.
  • Support other departments as required to meet customerdemands/deadlines.
  • Ensuring all work carried out to Level Developments health and safety policy.
  • Take part in team meetings, and make suggestions for improvements.

Skills & qualifications required

  • Ability to read engineering drawing & technical manufacturing instructions (e)
  • Have a high level of manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination (e)
  • Demonstrate practical skills with attention to detail (e)
  • Have a methodical and organised approach to work (e)
  • Communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing (e)
  • Work well in a team and individually (e)
  • Basic computer skills (e)
  • GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English (e)
  • Manufacturing experience (d)
  • Engineering qualification (d)
  • Understanding of good manufacturing practice, H&S COSHH & Risk Assessments (d)


There is opportunity to extend skills and knowledge to produce other products in the Level Developments product range, requiring different skill levels ( There are regularly new opportunities for progression arising within the company to further your career ie. supervisory/management, engineering, contribution or ownership of automation projects.
