Single Axis Inclinometers Sensors
High precision single axis inclinometer sensors
Single-Axis Inclinometer Sensors, or “clinometers”, measure the angle of inclination or tilt in a single direction relative to gravity. We offer a wide range of standard single-axis inclinometer options with output interfaces including CAN J1939, RS232, RS485, TCP/IP over Ethernet, 0–5V, 0–10V, and 4–20mA. Models are available for high-precision levelling and small-angle measurements, as well as for wider ranges such as ±5°, ±10°, ±15°, ±30°, ±45°, ±60°, ±90°, and ±180°. Connection options include Deutsch, M12, and bare-ended wires. In addition to our standard range, we also design and manufacture bespoke products to meet specific requirements, for example for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).

FAQs
An inclinometer measures acceleration acting on an internal proof mass and converts the resulting g-force into an angle in degrees (°). For example, an acceleration of 0.5 g is equal to 30° of tilt (sin⁻¹ 0.5 = 30). Because this measurement is referenced to Earth’s gravity, the inclinometer provides an absolute reference to a true level plane. The output indicates how far the measured object is tilted from that level plane. Single axis inclinometers are only sensitive to rotation around one axis. For more information go to ‘What is an Inclinometer‘ .
Single-axis inclinometers are commonly used for position feedback in solar tracking systems, off-highway machinery, aerial work platforms, satellite antennas, platform levelling, and robotics and automation. They are also used in structural monitoring of infrastructure such as bridges and dams, as well as in monitoring natural formations like embankments beside train tracks, to provide early warnings of potential mudslides or ground movement.
The SOLAR-360 series inclinometers are the highest-performing MEMS-based sensors available on the market. Their accuracy at room temperature is ±0.015° across the full ±180° measurement range. They offer excellent temperature stability, with optional additional temperature compensation to further improve performance over a wide temperature range. This makes them ideal for demanding applications requiring extreme precision, such as heliostat mirror positioning in concentrating solar plants with a central receiver.
Level Developments inclinometers are simple to use, our highly detailed datasheets contain all of the information you need to get started quickly and easily, and these can be downloaded from every product page. In many cases, specially made development cables are also available to further simplify development and prototyping.
